Bodhgaya is a small town in the state of Bihar, India. It is the site of the Bodhi Tree (ficus religiosa) under which Buddha is said to have attained Enlightenment @ 563 B.C. As such, it is the most significant Buddhist site in the world.

The Mahabodhi Temple, the complex around the Bodhi Tree is abuzz with activity day and night. There is a rich diversity of chanting styles and devotional practices being practiced by Buddhists from around the world. The overall ambience is very peaceful.
